Join the doctoral program in Political Science, Public Policies, and International Relations (PPIR) to conduct advanced research in the fields of politics, public policies, and international relations.
The doctoral training in PPIR includes designing an original and relevant research project as well as acquiring cross-cutting competencies for an academic or professional career. You will also be able to connect knowledge of political and social realities with social intervention. The Institute of Government and Public Policy (IGOP-UAB) is responsible of two PPIR’s lines of research: Analysis, management and evaluation of public policies and Social and urban policies.
IGOP is a research centre of the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (UAB) created with the aim of promoting research, training and dissemination in government and public policies from an interdisciplinary approach and combining academic excellence with social impact. It holds also a research group recognized by the Generalitat de Catalunya, “SGR i-GOP”, which provides a learning environment for doctoral students as they participate in the group’s monthly seminars. Additionally, the SGR provides funding for conference attendance, summer schools, etc. “i-GOP SGR” specific lines are:
- Socio-Spatial Inequality and Urban Policies (Ismael Blanco, Óscar Rebollo, among others).
- Social Inequality and Welfare State Reforms (Margarita León, Daniel Edmiston, Carlos Delclós, among others).
- Urban collective action, right to the city and proximity policies (Josep Lluís Espluga, Marc Parés, Bertie Russell, among others).
- Public administration and citizenship (Raquel Gallego, Xavier Ballart among others).
Some of the IGOP’s projects are:
- rEUsilience. Risks, resources and inequalities: Increasing Resilience in European Families (PI Margarita León);
- ECF4CLIM. A European competence framework for low carbon economy and sustainability through education (Josep Lluís Espluga);
- the ERC Consolidator project Who Counts? Incorporating a ‘Missing Minority’ a Re-examine the Profile, Drivers and Depth of Poverty across Europe (PI Daniel Edmiston);
- BACK IN TOWN BACK IN TOWN -The role of industrial relations and social dialogue in supporting young people’s employment and social inclusion at an urban level (PI Lara Maestripieri), o
- The polítics of radical municipalism (PI Bertie Russell).
IGOP offers an internationalized multicultural work environment focused on international excellence. As doctoral student, you will participate in IGOP’s summer and autumn schools as well as thematic sessions and open days.
