Margarita León IGOP 2023Margarita León(BA, MA, PhD London School of Economics – Regne Unit, 2000) is Full professor of Political Science at the Universitat Autònoma Barcelona (UAB). Between 2010 and 2015 she was a ‘Ramón y Cajal’ Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Government and Public Policies of the same university. From 2003 until 2010 she was lecturer in European social policy, University of Kent. She has been Marie Curie postdoctoral research at the European University Institute in Florence (2001-03) and a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at University of Berkeley, California (2018). Her main areas of research are comparative social policy and welfare state reform. She has published in numerous international peer-reviewed scientific journals; co-edited with A. Guillén The Spanish Welfare State in European Context (2011, Ashgate) and edited The Transformation of Care in European Societies (2014, Palgrave). In 2018 she was awarded ICREA ACADEMIA for excellence in research. She is co-chair of the Spanish Network of Social Policy -REPS, Espanet-Spain and Academic Director of Universidad Internacional Menendez Pelayo-Barcelona (UIMPB)
