The teaching innovation project “P-CUBE” –The Policy Game.

The European project “P-CUBE” (Erasmus +, Key Action2, Strategic Partnerships), which aims to create educational games for the teaching of public policy analysis, with special emphasis on the theory of change, has been underway since 1 September 2020.

P-CUBE is a project conceived and led by Professor Bruno Dente (honorary professor at the Politecnico di Milano) and coordinated by the Fondazione Politecnico di Milano with the participation of: Technische Universiteit Delft; Universite du Luxembourg; Science for Democracy; Alda (Association des Agences de la Democratie Locale) and the UAB through the Institute of Government and Public Policy.

Over the next 3 years and with an overall budget of €390,317, the consortium will design and implement a set of games aimed at facilitating classroom learning on how decisions are made in the public sphere and, therefore, what kind of decision-making strategies policy entrepreneurs can use. These games are aimed primarily at university students, but also at public managers, urban planners, members of NGOs and social associations or social workers, among others.

From IGOP, led by Ixchel Pérez Durán, we will be in charge of designing cases on social inclusion and social and urban innovation.

P-CUBE seeks to bring innovation to the way public policies are taught. These games, which will be materialised digitally, will help students and practitioners become familiar with the complexities of policy making and show that there are different ways to overcome the obstacles that prevent current governance systems from addressing collective problems.
