In a context of growing disinformation and hate speech, with an insufficient moderation system, we no longer feel comfortable being part of this space
As you may already know, several academic and professional institutions have decided to gradually abandon the Twitter platform, now renamed X, in a sign of disagreement with the policies and content promoted there since the change in ownership of the company.
The platform has changed significantly, prioritizing less rigorous content, favoring disinformation and degrading academic debate, which clashes with our values of transparency, scientific rigor and professionalism.
For this reason, and in agreement with the UAB declaration, the IGOP will deactivate its account on the X platform (formerly Twitter) from Easter 2025.
We prefer to redirect our efforts towards other more appropriate spaces, such as BlueSky, LinkedIn, our newsletter and our website, where we will continue to reaffirm our commitment to research and knowledge transfer.
We believe that in these new channels we will be able to maintain a more respectful and rigorous dialogue with society and will allow us to transfer the scientific knowledge generated at the University, combat misinformation with truthful and reliable contributions and promote the use of Catalan, which is clearly being marginalized in a globalized world.
