On November 27, a conference was held to present the Conceptual, Operational and Evaluation Framework for the Socio-Community Action of the Neighborhoods Law, developed jointly by the IGOP and the Metròpoli Institute within the framework of the Barris amb Futur (BAF) program.
BAF is a pilot program promoted by the Department of Social Rights and Inclusion of the Generalitat de Catalunya that aims to develop the socio-community dimension of the 2022 Neighborhoods Law. The Neighborhoods Law aims to promote the transformation of neighborhoods and towns that need special attention based on action in three main areas: physical transformations, ecological transition and socio-community action. In order to reflect on the scope, orientation, methodologies and evaluation of the socio-community dimension of this law, the BAF program has brought together around twenty City Councils in Catalonia that intend to participate in the implementation of the law from 2025.
Within the framework of the agreement signed with the Department of Social Rights and Inclusion, during this year the IGOP has given different training sessions on community action for City Councils, has facilitated different territorial meetings where diagnoses and experiences of socio-community intervention have been shared, and has developed, in collaboration with the Metròpoli Institute, the Conceptual, Operational and Evaluation Framework, which aims to become a reference guide for City Councils in the future implementation of the Neighborhoods Law.
The presentation ceremony of the day was attended by Carles Martí, Commissioner for the Promotion of Urban, Environmental and Social Improvement Policies for Neighborhoods and Towns, and Jaume Romero, General Director of Civic and Community Action, as well as representatives of all the City Councils involved in the Neighborhoods with a Future program.
