The project aims to explore the different areas of student participation in college with the goal of improving and encouraging student involvement in university governance. We question the differences and relationships between different forms of student participation in college here today and, more specifically, on its democratic quality and its impacts.

We analyze three types of spaces:

  • Governmental – Representative spaces (faculty meetings, “consejos de estudio”, etc..)
  • Institutional spaces for student participation (student councils, student delegations, etc..)
  • Non-institutional spaces for student participation (assemblies).
