With the Call for Abstracts we launch the third edition of the Early Career Workshop on Comparative Social and Public Policy (COSPPO) which will take place on April 23 and 24, 2026 at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.

We are pleased to invite submissions for the third edition of the Early Career Workshop on Comparative Social and Public Policy (COSPPO), to be held on the 23rd and 24th of April 2026 at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona The workshop is organised by early career and doctoral researchers from the Institute of Government and Public Policy (IGOP) at UAB and supported by the WHOCOUNTS project.

COSPPO aims to bring together specialists in comparative social policy. The event will focus on the critical examination of the transformation of social citizenship across diverse contexts.

Abstract submission deadline: December 13, 2025

We invite the submission of extended abstracts (500 words) that offer methodological, theoretical and/or empirical contributions (both qualitative and quantitative) to the field from a comparative perspective. Cross-national studies are preferred, although single case studies that contribute to our knowledge of wider societal or policy processes are welcome too.

The workshop offers a distinctive format, with 50-minute presentation sessions designed to foster in-depth discussion and detailed feedback from senior academics. Selected participants will be required to submit their full papers by April 3, 2026.

We aim to foster collaboration and discussion among doctoral, early career and senior scholars. The workshop is designed to provide researchers with a supportive environment for presenting their work. Each paper will be allocated ample time for presentation, discussion, and detailed feedback from peers and senior scholars.

To support participation of early career researchers, on-site accommodation, breakfast and lunches will be provided to all participants.

The event will open with a keynote lecture by Professor Hannah Zagel, an expert on social inequality and the sociology of the family.
