On June 5th, 6th, and 7th, students of the Diploma in Local Agroecological Development completed the final in-person sessions of the course, visiting various agroecological projects in the area, guided by a teaching team comprised of Marina Di Masso, Laura Calvet, Ana Pardo, Rosa Binimelis, and Carlos Delcl\u00f3s.<\/p>\n
Staying at a campsite in Montardit de Baix, a participatory process design workshop was held on Friday, based on a case study from the Pallars region. The following day, Saturday, Laia Batalla, director of the Catalan School of Shepherds, explained the workings and challenges of this emblematic organization, which has been operating for 18 years. Afterwards, a visit was made to the Gav\u00e0s Cheese Factory, where the students learned about her work and life project based on a herd of 150 goats. In the afternoon, the participatory workshop that had begun the previous day continued, and all the students discussed their final projects for the Diploma. In the evening, the traditional fraternal dinner was held, where students shared products and recipes from their hometowns. On Sunday, June 7th, the group traveled to Tremp, the capital of Pallars Juss\u00e0, to visit the ‘Es Pallar\u00e8s’ bakery and learn about the ‘Al Teu Gust’ project, led by Dolors Aixal\u00e0 and dedicated to promoting local food. After 15 years, this project has become a benchmark for local food policy.<\/p>\n
The Diploma in Local Agroecological Development will conclude on July 15th. The remaining time will be dedicated to finalizing the students’ projects, all of which focus on promoting real-world agroecological initiatives.<\/p>\n
The Diploma in Local Agroecological Development is a program offered by the UAB (Autonomous University of Barcelona), coordinated by the IGOP (Galician Institute of Protected Areas) and the ICTA (Institute of Cantabrian Science and Technology). It is offered every two years, and this year marked its ninth edition.
