We resume our activities with the presentation of the book by Joan Subirats “The gap between knowing and doing. Stronger democracies with more effective policies”
Are scientists merely providers of evidence, or should they also be active participants in shaping public policy?
Joan Subirats questions whether the necessary space, resources, and political will exist to make scientific knowledge relevant in political and social debates. He analyzes the extent to which their roles can complement those of citizens, public officials, and representatives of diverse interests; and what scope exists for exploring new solutions to persistent problems.
